Morrison's novels are noted for their complex portrayals of African Ameri- cans and, in particular, the women characters who defy conventional ster- eotypes. He has been editor and now executive editor of the journal Extrapolation, which deals with science fiction, since 1990. Despite the four-star review, I was disappointed that it wasn’t her favorite.
