Both genres, at least, rest on similar precepts. From the Bill Fulton 2009 cd release "About 12:00am." Gudrun Endress (1970) reports that when the group went to Europe it took more than 500 musical instruments along" (Jost 177); and similarly, "the [Sun Ra] Arkestra soloists become increasingly multi-instrumental" (Jost 187). The 'Boogie and Blues' selections are highly recommended for something a bit different, but you'll find lot's of easy to play classical works, too. The word ensemble applies to this style as the big bands usually were made up of ten or more players.
